Fatehpur: A tragic accident took place in Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday evening. There was a sudden loud explosion in the house of a fruit trader in the town of Malwan police station area. The explosion was so powerful that the upper two floors of the house collapsed. Five people died due to being buried under the debris and getting burnt, while many others are said to be injured.
As soon as information about the incident was received, police and administration teams reached the spot and relief operation was started. Due to the narrow street, the fire brigade vehicle could not reach the spot. After this, the work of removing debris was started with the help of JCB.
How did such a big explosion happen in Fatehpur?
According to the police, the incident was reported through PRV at around 5:30 pm on Monday evening. Local police immediately reached the spot. Initial investigation revealed that a gas cylinder had exploded in the house.
Four gas cylinders have been found from the spot. It is being said that two of these cylinders have burst. However, the police have not yet officially confirmed the real reason for the blast. Forensic and fire department teams are collecting evidence from the spot and investigating.
How were the people buried under the debris pulled out?
After the blast, the upper two floors of the house collapsed and many people were buried under the debris. About 16 employees of police and fire brigade along with the local people started the rescue operation.
The debris was removed with the help of JCB. During the operation, seven people were evacuated, who were sent to Medical College Fatehpur for treatment. According to the police, the condition of the two injured is currently said to be out of danger.
Have nearby houses also been damaged?
Due to the loud explosion, not only the main house was affected, but the beams of some nearby houses were also damaged. However, according to the police, there is no news of death of any person in the nearby houses.
Administration teams are also taking stock of the surrounding buildings so that people can be safe in case of any additional danger.
How will the debris removal operation be carried out at night?
Adequate lighting arrangements are being made to continue relief and rescue operations even after dark. According to the police, arrangements for lights have been made at the electricity department and local level. If needed, large lighting equipment will also be procured.
Rescue teams fear that someone else may be trapped inside the debris. On receipt of such information the search operation will be continued. SDRF team has also been called for relief work.
How is the condition of the landlord after the accident?
After the accident, the health of the owner of the house Suresh alias Dhunnar Gupta also deteriorated. The homeowner who was shocked by the incident has been given medical aid.
Police and administration teams are present on the spot. At present the priority is to search for people trapped under the debris and provide treatment to the injured.
