“This is a matter of concern. Be it the Ganga or the Gandak, so much water has never come before. The water level in the Son river has also increased significantly. He said that at the moment there is no report of any major erosion, but the embankments are being monitored continuously. The help of the Air Force has been taken to provide help to the flood victims, which is expected to be involved in relief work from Friday. Earlier, the CM had conducted an aerial survey of West Champaran, the worst-affected by the floods. Apart from West Champaran, Gandak has wreaked havoc in East Champaran, Gopalganj, Saran, Saharsa, Vaishali and Muzaffarpur.

Nepal rains giving tension

According to the Water Resources Department, the Gandak river has crossed the highest flood level ever in many places due to heavy rains in Nepal and UP. For the last 36 hours, the water level of Gandak in Dumariaghat, Gopalganj, is 22 centimeters above the HFL. The situation is similar in Rewa Ghat in Saran and Lalganj in Vaishali.

Water has entered many villages

On Wednesday night, the right Saran embankment in Panapur and the ring embankment in Sahebganj in Muzaffarpur broke, due to which water entered many villages. The department said that the Ganga is also flowing above the danger, due to which the water of the Gandak is not able to come out and the pressure is increasing. Among other rivers, the Bagmati river in Benibad is flowing 1.35 meters above the danger level, while the Ganga is flowing 1.07 meters above Gandhi Ghat in Patna. At present, low-lying areas of 20 districts including Patna, Bhojpur, Buxar, Begusarai, Bhagalpur, Supaul, Khagaria are inundated and the administration has appealed to the people to move to safer places.
