New Delhi: Virat Kohli’s claim of Rs 5 crore going on social media for visiting Premanand Maharaj’s ashram in Vrindavan has created a new controversy. It was claimed that a private company had spent Rs 5 crore to take Kohli to the ashram. However, Virat Kohli’s official spokesperson has completely rejected this claim. The spokesperson described it as “completely false, baseless and factually incorrect.” Also said that Kohli meets Premanand Maharaj because of his deep faith and reverence.
Who claimed Rs 5 crore?
It has come to light that this allegation was made by Dinesh Sharma alias ‘Falahari Maharaj’. He is the president of Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Sangharsh Trust. According to reports, in a letter addressed to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, he raised several questions regarding Premanand Maharaj’s ashram and the famous personalities visiting there. In the same letter, it was allegedly claimed that a private company and builder lobby of Rajasthan spent Rs 5 crore to bring Virat Kohli to the ashram.
Did Kohli really get the money?
Till now no such public document has come to light that proves that Rs 5 crore was paid to Virat Kohli to go to the ashram. Neither any contract, nor receipt of payment, nor any record related to bank transaction has become public that confirms this claim. Reports has also said in its report that no evidence has emerged to establish the receipt of this amount.
What did Virat’s team say on the claim?
After the claim surfaced, Virat Kohli’s spokesperson clarified that there is no truth in the allegations made by Falahari Maharaj. According to the spokesperson, Kohli’s meetings with Premanand Maharaj are not for any financial gain. He said that cricketers go to the ashram only because of their faith and respect for the Maharaja. The spokesperson also appealed to the media that facts should be verified before pushing any claims.
When did Virat-Anushka reach the ashram for the first time?
Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma’s meeting with Premanand Maharaj is not a new thing. Both of them had reached the ashram in Vrindavan for the first time in January 2023. His daughter Vamika was also with him at that time. Pictures and videos of this meeting were much discussed on social media. Even after this, both of them have come to meet Premanand Maharaj on many occasions.
How many times has the couple reached the ashram?
After the first meeting, Virat and Anushka’s meetings with Premanand Maharaj continued. Both of them had reached the ashram even after the announcement of Virat’s retirement from Test cricket in 2025. This year also his Ashram Yatra has come to light. This is why the most important fact amid the claim of Rs 5 crore is that the couple’s ashram visits are already publicly recorded, whereas no independent evidence of the alleged payment has come to light yet.
Why did the discussion increase on social media?
After the news related to the claim of Rs 5 crore spread rapidly on social media, discussion started among Virat Kohli’s fans also. In many posts the allegation was presented as fact, while in the available reports it was also described as an allegation.
