New Delhi: Security arrangements have been tightened in Delhi regarding the proposed demonstration of Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on October 10. The party has announced a demonstration at Jantar Mantar in protest against the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and alleged irregularities in the electoral voter list. However, Delhi Police has refused to allow this. Despite this, CJP leaders have expressed their intention to protest. The deployment of police and paramilitary forces has been increased to maintain law and order in the capital. Metro services and rail traffic have also been affected by the restrictions.
Will Abhijeet Dipke leave for Delhi and will join the protest?
Cockroach Janata Party founder Abhijeet Dipke has left for Delhi to join the proposed protest. According to a party official, he is coming to Delhi from Mumbai and is expected to reach around 10 am. Despite not getting permission from the police, the party leaders have kept their stand clear regarding the demonstration.
Are there tight security arrangements in Delhi?
In view of the possible crowd and law and order situation at Jantar Mantar, extensive security arrangements have been made in Delhi. CJP spokesperson Saurabh Das has accused Delhi Police of allowing his phone number to become public. He claims that after the documents related to the previous protest and the letter of cancellation of permission were circulated, he has been continuously receiving phone calls and WhatsApp messages.
According to Das, he received more than 300 calls in an hour. He expressed his displeasure regarding this matter on social media. However, independent confirmation from the police on the allegations of leaking of phone numbers is yet to come.
Gates of 45 metro stations closed in Delhi?
In view of CJP’s protest, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced closure of entry and exit at 45 metro stations. It has been informed that this restriction will be in force from 9 pm on October 9 to 6 pm on October 10. It has been said that interchange facility will be continued at the respective stations, although New Delhi Metro station is an exception to this.
The affected stations include many major stations including Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Patel Chowk, Janpath, Mandi House, ITO, Delhi Gate, Supreme Court, Kashmiri Gate, Khan Market and Lajpat Nagar. Passengers have been advised to check the latest advisory of Metro before leaving home.
Are many trains coming to New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin cancelled?
In view of the protest, Railways has decided to cancel or change the movement of many trains connected to New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations from 4 am to 2 pm on October 10. Initial information stated that 38 trains had been cancelled, while later lists of additional trains also emerged.
Changes in rail services may cause problems for passengers traveling to and from Delhi. Passengers are advised to check the status of their train on the official website of Railways or the respective Railway helpline.
24-hour ban on mobile internet in Delhi?
As part of security arrangements, it has been announced that mobile internet services will be temporarily closed within a radius of four kilometres around the Janpath-Kartavya Path intersection. According to available information, this restriction will remain in force from 10 pm on October 9 to 10 pm on October 10.
The objective of administration is to maintain law and order during possible tensions. However, the ban on internet services may cause problems for local people, businessmen and travellers.
Why did Delhi Police not allow the demonstration?
Delhi Police refused to approve CJP’s proposed demonstration, saying the application was received much later than the scheduled time. According to the police, it is necessary to apply at least 10 days in advance for the programme at Jantar Mantar, whereas the information was given by the party on October 7.
The police also cited that the conditions and instructions laid down during the last protest were not followed. Apart from this, concerns related to public safety, traffic and law and order have been cited as the reason for not granting permission.
Was Section 163 implemented?
Delhi Police has imposed restrictive orders under Section 163 of the Indian Civil Security Code (BNSS) in New Delhi district. According to the police, legal action can be taken if any gathering or demonstration takes place without permission during these orders.
In such a situation, there is a possibility of tension between the protesters trying to reach Jantar Mantar and the police. The administration has appealed to the people to follow the restrictions and avoid visiting the affected areas unnecessarily.
Did the party claim to have detained 10 thousand people?
CJP has claimed that around 10,000 people have been detained in different parts of the country before the demonstration. According to the party, these include workers, students, farmers and people associated with Dalit organizations. However, this number of people detained has not been independently confirmed and this claim has not been confirmed by the police either.
