Muzaffarnagar: A 50-year-old man, identified as Badal Thakur, was found dead at his residence in the Khanzapur area along Kashiram Colony Road, under the jurisdiction of the City Kotwali police station in Muzaffarnagar. His son, Karan, has alleged that an ongoing property dispute, repeated demands for money and threats of false criminal cases had left his father under severe mental stress.
The family has also accused a person alleged to be posing as a media professional of demanding money and threatening to publish news reports if the demands were not met. These allegations have yet to be independently established.
Family Discovers the Incident at Home
According to the available information, the incident came to light around noon on Friday when family members became concerned after finding a room locked from the inside. They reportedly used a ladder to gain access to the house and discovered Badal inside the room. The family was left devastated by the discovery.
What Has the Family Alleged About the Property Dispute?
Speaking to the media, Karan said the family had purchased a house approximately three-and-a-half years ago. He alleged that the property’s owner and several other individuals had subsequently pressured the family to pay money and threatened to implicate them in false cases.
According to Karan, his father had been experiencing significant mental distress for around 15 to 20 days because of these circumstances. He further alleged that a person claiming to be a media professional had been demanding money and threatening to publish reports if payment was refused.
The allegations concerning the property dispute, threats and purported blackmail have not yet been confirmed by investigators.
Police Begin Investigation
Following the incident, police reached the residence and sent the body for a post-mortem examination. An investigation has been initiated to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and examine the family’s allegations.
The family has appealed for justice and called for appropriate action based on the findings of the investigation.
