New Delhi: King Khan is now fully prepared for his comeback. His film “King” is releasing in December this year, which is significant in many ways. Suhana Khan will be making her theatrical debut with this film. Recently, it was reported that she is shooting a song with Kareena Kapoor. A party song will also be included with the entire team. There is a lot of buzz surrounding the film, a major reason being November 2nd. The makers may release a teaser or a song on Shah Rukh Khan’s birthday, which is also generating a lot of buzz. Meanwhile, it has been reported that the film has already received significant overseas sales before its release.

The makers of “King” have big plans not only for the Hindi market, but also for the South. His previous releases have received a tremendous response overseas. Overall, Shah Rukh Khan remains the “King” abroad. Meanwhile, a report has surfaced, according to which the overseas theatrical rights for this film, “King,” have been purchased for ₹175 crore (approximately $1.75 billion), a new record for Indian cinema.

‘King’ earns big before release

Recently, a report appeared on Pinkvilla, which revealed that Fars Films had acquired the rights to sell the film overseas for a whopping sum of ₹175 crore. Until now, Yash Raj Films (YRF) had held the overseas rights to Shah Rukh Khan’s films. In 2023, YRF released Shah Rukh Khan’s films “Pathan” and “Jawaan” overseas, which were highly successful. Fars Films also has considerable experience in overseas distribution, having worked with YRF on several films. It also released Prabhas’s film “Saaho” overseas on its own.

Well, Fars Films has offered a minimum guarantee of ₹175 crore for the distribution rights of “King.” No Indian film has ever reached this ₹100 crore mark. However, Shah Rukh Khan leads the way.

What is the minimum guarantee amount?

The MG (Minimum Guarantee) amount given for a film is a sign of confidence in a film while it’s still running in theaters. In fact, overseas distributors typically receive only 50 percent of the box office gross. This means that “King” needs to earn $37-40 million just to recoup its budget, which translates to a total gross of approximately ₹350-375 crore.

How much did the Pathan-Jawaan earn?

In fact, Shah Rukh Khan’s two most successful films were “Pathan” and “Jawaan.” Both grossed approximately ₹400 crore overseas.
