Kathmandu: A major accident took place in the Mount Everest area of Nepal on Tuesday morning. Two helicopters collided while landing at Feriche helipad in Solukhumbu district. A foreign tourist died in this accident, while a pilot was injured. After the accident, rescue operation was started in the area.
According to initial reports by Nepal Police, the accident occurred at around 8:11 am. At that time, helicopters of Fishtail Air and Air Dynasty were trying to land at Ferriche helipad. During this time there was a collision between the two and they met with an accident.
How did the helicopter accident happen in Nepal?
According to officials, the two helicopters collided during landing at Pheriche in the Mount Everest region. Initial information has revealed that a foreign tourist travelling in the helicopter of Fishtail Air lost his life. Meanwhile, helicopter pilot Captain Prajwal KC was injured.
On the other hand, the Air Dynasty helicopter was being flown by Captain Rabindra Prajapati. Information about his injuries in the accident has also come to light. However, detailed information is being gathered regarding the damage caused to both the helicopters involved in the accident and the condition of all the passengers.
Who was the foreign tourist killed in the accident?
The identity of the foreign tourist who lost his life in the accident has not been established yet. Police and concerned officials are collecting information related to the identity of the deceased. At present it is not clear how many people were on board both the helicopters.
Where was the injured pilot taken?
According to Nepal Police, the injured person was taken to Lukla with the help of Prabhu helicopter for treatment. Apart from this, a helicopter of Simrik Air also reached the spot. Relief operations are being carried out with the help of local authorities and rescue teams.
What is the reason for the accident?
At present the exact reason for the collision of the two helicopters has not been revealed. According to initial information, the accident occurred when both the aircraft were trying to land on the same helipad. Officials are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
