A 29-year-old software engineer ended his life by jumping in front of a train in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh. He was reportedly under severe stress after his girlfriend accused him of rape. Police found a note near his body that read, “I have been betrayed in love. The body of Gaurav Savanni was discovered on the Usalapur railway track on September 27.
Relationship and case against him
Police said that Gaurav first met the woman on a matrimonial site when he was working in Noida. Their bond grew closer with time, but later she filed a rape case against him. Following the complaint, he was taken into custody and sent to jail. He was released on bail nearly 15 days before he took the extreme step.
Changes in behaviour after release
After coming back home, Gaurav seemed withdrawn and troubled. He avoided meeting neighbours and remained upset most of the time. His close friend Sandeep Gupta said that Gaurav was once lively and cheerful, but the recent case shattered him completely. Another friend, Tipsy Makkar, shared that in the last few days he had stopped talking to people and looked very disturbed mentally. Senior Superintendent of Police Rajnesh Singh confirmed that a full investigation is being carried out to find the reasons behind his suicide.
