3 Maoists killed in encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh

Three Maoists, including a woman, were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district on Sunday, police reported. The clash took place in the forested hill area of Chhindkhadak village, which comes under the Kanker police station limits, when a joint team of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) from Kanker and Gariaband, along with Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, conducted a search operation.

Details of the Encounter

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kanker, I K Elesela, said that during the firefight, two male Maoists and one woman cadre were killed. Among the deceased was a Maoist with a bounty of ₹14 lakh on his head. After the encounter, security forces searched the area and recovered the bodies along with weapons, including one SLR, one .303 rifle, one 12-bore gun, and other Maoist-related items.

Ongoing Counter-Insurgency Efforts

This operation is part of the ongoing intensified anti-Maoist campaign in the Bastar division. Security forces have been taking stronger action against Maoists in recent months, resulting in the elimination of several high-profile cadres and weakening their organisational structure. Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised the security forces for their major success against Naxalites in Narayanpur near the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border.
