Six Maoists from Chhattisgarh gave themselves up to Superintendent of Police B. Rohith Raju along with officials of CRPF 81 and 141 Battalions here on Thursday. The surrendered Maoists are Usoor LOS Commander of Pamed Area Committee Madakam Deva alias Dinesh, Pamed LOS party member Madavi Joga, and militia members Podium Deva, Madakam Idumas, Madakam Muka and Madivi Itha.

They chose to leave the CPI (Maoist) party and live peacefully with their families after learning about the benefits offered by the State government and the police under ‘Operation Cheyutha’, the SP said.

Immediate financial help for surrendered Maoists

Each of the six surrendered Maoists was given Rs. 25,000 as immediate aid. The remaining amount according to their ranks will be transferred to their bank accounts after submitting their Aadhaar and bank details. Since January this year, 320 Maoists have surrendered to the district police. This includes four DVCMs, 22 ACMs, 41 PMs, 120 militia members, 35 RPC members, 47 DAKMs/KAMSs, 30 CNM members and 21 GRD members.

Earlier major surrender and rehabilitation support

On September 13, Central Committee member Potula Padmavathi alias Kalpana alias Sujathakka surrendered before the DGP. As part of her rehabilitation, she received Rs. 25 lakh on the day she surrendered, Rohith Raju said. The SP added that underground Maoists should give up violence and adopt a peaceful life. All those who surrender will be given rehabilitation benefits. The government and police department are committed to the welfare and overall development of tribal communities, he said.
