Jharkhand Police have freed 62 young people who were being kept against their will by a private company, under the promise of training and future jobs, a senior official said on Saturday. Three men from Bihar have also been arrested in connection with the case.
Acting on information that the youths were being held after being mistreated by company staff, police raided rented homes in Tamolia of Kapali, within the Chandil police station area of Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Thursday and rescued them, the officer added. Chandil Sub-divisional Police Officer Arvind Binha said the youths were locked in three rented houses and were exploited by the firm.
Arrests and Legal Action
The company’s supervisor and other staff were taken for questioning, which led to the arrest of three men. A case under several sections of the BNS was filed against them on Friday. The arrested men are from Bhagalpur and Gaya districts of Bihar.
Evidence Seized and Custody
Police also recovered 33 documents linked to the company. The accused were presented in court, which sent them to judicial custody on Saturday, the officer added.
