7 injured in violent clash between two communities over dominance in UP's Ballia

Seven people were hurt after a violent fight broke out between the Yadav and Bind communities over a dominance issue in Reoti village of Ballia, officials said on Thursday. Police said the clash happened on Wednesday night when members of both groups attacked each other using sticks and iron rods, turning a local disagreement into a major brawl. Those injured included Sunil Yadav and Kamlesh Yadav from one side, and Dhananjay, Lal Babu Prasad, Kapil Dev, Ravindra, and Mantu Bind from the other. All were first taken to a nearby government hospital, but four of them were later sent to the district hospital for better treatment, police added.

FIRs Filed by Both Sides

Following complaints from both communities, two FIRs have been filed. The first FIR, based on a complaint by Sunil Yadav, named eight accused and several unknown people, said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mohammad Faheem Qureshi.

More Accused Identified

Another FIR was filed after a complaint by Manoj Kumar Prasad, naming 14 accused along with some unidentified individuals, Qureshi added. Police have arrested five accused and detained five more for questioning. The DSP said the fight stemmed from a long-running rivalry and local power struggle between the two communities, but the situation in the village is now under control.

Similar Violence in Muzaffarnagar

In a separate incident, five people were seriously hurt after a fight broke out over an old dispute in a village of Muzaffarnagar district, police said on Thursday. Ratenpuri SHO Rakesh Kumar said the confrontation started when two men, Arvind and Vir Singh, faced each other, which quickly escalated into a violent clash.

Weapons Used in the Fight

The two groups used sticks and sharp weapons during the clash before police arrived and managed to control the situation, the SHO added. The injured were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
