Tejashwi Yadav Demands Student Release, Vows Massive Protest If Cases Stay

Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday warned of a “massive protest movement” if students arrested during demonstrations over the alleged NEET paper leak in Bihar are not released and the cases filed against them are not withdrawn.

What did Tejashwi Yadav say?

While speaking to the media at the Patna airport, Tejashwi Yadav supported the students who participated in the protests and also warned of launching a “massive protest movement”.

Tejashwi warned that if the cases registered against the students are not withdrawn and the arrested people are not released, a big movement will be launched in Bihar.

What did the RJD leader say about the students?

While backing the students, who participated in the protests, Tejashwi Yadav said, “For the past several days, students have been protesting on the streets about their future. In Delhi, the students’ demands were accepted, and it was decided that the cases filed against the students during the protests would be withdrawn. But in Bihar, the government is taking action against the students and sending them to jail.”

“We hail all those students who protested against the paper leak. They have fought for their rights and for a better future. All opposition parties have supported this; almost every opposition party has backed this demand, and we have also joined this fight,” he said.

What did Tejashwi Yadav say about arrest?

The Leader of the Opposition alleged, “Students were lathi-charged in several districts, including Patna. A large number of students were detained, and thousands of students were named in the FIR.”

He further said, ‘Students who express their views democratically are being treated like criminals, which will not be accepted at any cost.’

While talking about the issue of arrest of MLAs and Tej Pratap Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav said, “Several of our MLAs were also detained; we learned yesterday that the Mahishi MLA was picked up. Saurav, an MLA from Malli, was also taken into custody. While he was released late at night, my elder brother, Tej Pratap, was arrested and charged.”

What did Tejashwi Yadav say about the protest movement?

Tejashwi Yadav urged the government to release the students who had been arrested and withdraw all cases against the students.

“I want to advise the government that if it was decided in Delhi yesterday that cases would be withdrawn, then I am not just requesting but warning the government that by tomorrow, all charges against the hundreds and thousands of students must be dropped, and they must be released. If these students are not freed, we will initiate a massive protest movement,” he said.
