Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav said on Saturday that he is not afraid of FIRs and will keep speaking the truth. His statement comes after he was booked over a social media post regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Gayaji in Bihar. Who is scared of an FIR? Even saying the word ‘jumla’ has become a crime… They fear the truth. “We are not afraid of any FIR and will keep speaking the truth,” said Yadav, the former Bihar deputy chief minister, to news agency ANI.
Yadav’s Social Media Post
On X (formerly Twitter), Tejashwi Yadav posted an animated image showing PM Modi as a shopkeeper. The shop’s sign humorously read, “Famous shop for ‘jumlas’,” and added that “every promise is a ‘jumla’ with a 100 per cent guarantee.” The caption of the post stated, “Today, the vote thief will come to Gaya, Bihar, and will tell lie after lie in front of the Biharis.”
FIR Filed in Maharashtra
In Gadchiroli, Maharashtra, BJP MLA Milind Narote lodged a complaint against Tejashwi Yadav, resulting in an FIR. The case was registered under sections 196 (promoting enmity between groups), 356 (defamation), 352 (intentional insult to provoke a breach of peace), and 353 (statements causing public mischief) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
FIR Filed in Uttar Pradesh
An FIR was also filed against Tejashwi Yadav in Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, following a complaint by BJP leader Shilpi Gupta. The case was registered under sections 353(2) (spreading rumors) and 197(1)A (allegations via image) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Gupta claimed that Yadav’s post contained an “improper comment” on PM Modi, which triggered “widespread anger among citizens” and caused “considerable discontent among the public and BJP members.”
