Mumbai: Netflix’s Lock Upp 2 took an emotional turn in its latest episode after actor Ram Kapoor opened up about a personal chapter of his life. His revelation left the other contestants stunned and visibly emotional. In this week’s task, contestants were asked to keep another inmate’s secret safe in return for money to purchase food. Ram Kapoor’s secret was the first to be exposed, making it one of the most emotional moments of the episode.
What did Ram Kapoor reveal?
During the episode, the ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’ actor revealed that his father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at the age of 63. The cancer could not be cured by surgery. So, his father then underwent 18 rounds of chemotherapy, after which the cancer was almost gone.
“He lived to the age of 73 and had a wonderful life,” Ram said.
How did Ram help his father?
Ram revealed that unfortunately, cancer struck him again. While doctors were hopeful because his body had responded well to treatment the first time, he said things were completely different this time.
The actor said that his father was very rich, but he never wanted to live in his father’s shadow. Therefore, he chose a different path and created his own identity as an actor.
Recalling that difficult time, Ram said that his father’s cancer returned during the Covid pandemic, when everything was under lockdown. He was in Singapore during the Covid-19 pandemic. He called Gautami and said, “I need to talk to Ram.”
“I helped my father plan his death. His cancer relapsed during the Covid period. He called Gautami and told her that he wanted to talk to me. On the call, we discussed everything and, basically, he had decided that he didn’t wish to fight the disease anymore.”
According to Ram, his father had decided he no longer wanted to fight the disease. He had decided he had to leave, but he was afraid to do so.
What was Ram’s decision?
Ram said that while his father had made his decision, he was afraid of facing his final moments alone.
According to the actor, his father directly asked for his support, leaving him emotionally torn.
Ram Kapoor said, “He wanted to go, but he was scared of doing it alone. He still didn’t want anyone to know, but he wanted me to be there, so he point-blank asked me, ‘Can you help me in dying?’ He managed to convince me that ki main nahi karunga to woh akele karenge (If I won’t do it, he will do it himself), so he didn’t leave me with a choice.”
