Indore: A horrific road accident on Sunday afternoon on Badnawar-Ujjain fourlane in Dhar district took away the happiness of six families. A speeding trolley and a Maruti Eeco van collided head-on near Panchkavasa village. The accident was so severe that the van was badly damaged and six youths travelling in it died on the spot. Another youth has been seriously injured. According to initial information, all the youth were residents of Vadodara, Gujarat and were returning to Gujarat after having darshan of Lord Mahakal in Ujjain.
Did the trolley coming from the wrong side take six lives?
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the trolley was going towards Ujjain from the wrong side on Badnawar-Ujjain four lane. Meanwhile, he had a direct collision with a Maruti Eeco van going towards Gujarat. The trolley was loaded with iron goods. After the collision, the front part of the Eeco van was completely damaged. As soon as information about the accident was received, the police reached the spot and started relief work.
Were the youth returning home after seeing Mahakal?
It has been told that the youth travelling in the van had come to Ujjain to have darshan of Lord Mahakal. After darshan everyone was returning to Vadodara, Gujarat. Meanwhile this accident happened near Panchkavasa. There is a lot of movement of religious pilgrims on this route between Ujjain and Gujarat. The Ujjain-Badnavar route is considered an important connectivity route between Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh and due to the increasing number of devotees visiting the Mahakal temple, traffic on this route has also increased.
How were the bodies trapped in the van removed?
The people travelling in the van were badly trapped after the collision. Villagers and policemen who reached the spot broke the glass of the vehicle and took out the bodies. During the relief work, the seriously injured youth was sent to Badnavar Civil Hospital with the help of an ambulance. The magnitude of the accident can be gauged from the fact that the van was badly damaged and people trapped in it had to be rescued with great difficulty.
Why was there chaos after the accident?
After the accident, traffic on the four lane was affected for some time. Due to the collision between the two vehicles, a queue of vehicles formed on the road. The police and administration team reached the spot and removed the accident vehicles and normalised the traffic. Badnavar police station has inspected the incident site and collected evidence related to the accident. The bodies of the deceased have been kept in the mortuary of Badnawar Civil Hospital for postmortem.

After receiving information about the accident, police-administration officials including notorious TI Amit Singh Kushwaha, Tehsildar Suresh Nagar and SDM Priyanka Mimrod reached the spot. The officials monitored the relief work and made arrangements to take the injured to the hospital. The police have also informed the families of the deceased living in Gujarat about the accident. As soon as the families got the news of the death of their loved ones, there was mourning.
Was wrong side driving the cause of the accident?
Initial police investigation has revealed that the trolley came on the wrong side. However, the full reason for the accident will become clear only after investigation. Police are searching for the trolley driver, who fled from the spot after the accident. The trolley has been taken into custody by the police. Other aspects including the speed of the vehicles and road conditions at the time of the accident are also being investigated.

Police have registered the case and started searching for the absconding driver. Information is being collected from the incident site and nearby possible places. Police say that after the driver is caught, answers to many questions related to the accident can be found. At present, there is an atmosphere of mourning in the families of six youths due to their death, while the injured youth is undergoing treatment in the hospital.
