New Delhi: A case of rape of a 22-year-old makeup artist has come to light in a hotel in Mukherjee Nagar area of North Delhi. The girl alleges that a young man who became her friend on Instagram made her unconscious by giving her a cold drink laced with intoxicants and then raped her. Later, she was also accused of being raped in another hotel. When her condition deteriorated during the incident, the accused fled leaving her in a critical condition. Based on the complaint, the police have registered an FIR and started investigation.
How were both identified on Instagram?
The victim told the police that she lives with her family in Wazirabad area and works as a makeup artist. She also used to post makeup-related videos and reels on Instagram. Meanwhile, in August last year, he was introduced to a young man named Sahib. The accused had also described himself as a makeup artist. After this, conversation started between the two on the phone.
What happened in the first meeting?
According to the victim, the accused was staying in a hotel in Mukherjee Nagar in July and he called her to meet him. After reaching the hotel room, the accused allegedly made her drink cold drink mixed with intoxicants. After becoming unconscious she was raped. When the girl protested after regaining consciousness, the accused allegedly convinced her not to complain to the police by promising marriage.
Why did the girl go to the hotel again on August 8?
According to the complaint, on August 8, the accused reached near Burari bypass. During this time another young man was also with him. It is alleged that Sahib took the girl to a hotel in GTB Nagar. There he allegedly raped her again by threatening to kill her. During this time the girl’s condition deteriorated and she became drenched in blood. The accused fled away leaving her in the hotel itself.
What evidence did the police collect from the hotel?
After receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and admitted the girl to the hospital. Since his condition was serious, he was given treatment at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. He was later discharged from the hospital. During the investigation, the police took into custody the footage and registers of the CCTV cameras installed in the hotel. On the basis of this evidence, the activities and incidents of the accused are being investigated.
Has the accused been arrested?
The police have registered the case on the basis of the girl’s complaint, but till the time of writing the news, the accused had not been arrested. The police are searching for the accused and examining the information available about him and the evidence found from the hotel. The role of the second youth is also under investigation. At present the police have started further action in the case.
