Azamgarh: A sensational incident involving a family came to light late Tuesday evening in Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh. A man named Arvind Singh allegedly shot dead his wife, son and two priests in Shambhupur village of Ahraula police station area. After the incident, the accused along with his three children locked themselves in a room of the house with weapons. For about eight hours the police kept convincing him to come out and leave the children safely. Later the accused started firing at the police. He was seriously injured in retaliation and died on the way to hospital. A total of five people including the accused lost their lives in this entire incident.

Why were bullets fired?
According to the police, a puja was being conducted in Shambhupur village for the peace of the soul of Arvind Singh’s late brother Sunil Singh. It is being told that Arvind was angry about this puja. During this time he started firing with the rifle. His wife Babita Singh (40), priest Mahendra Pathak (42) and Akhilesh Mishra (55) died in the firing. After the incident, there was chaos in the village and the police were informed.
Why did the accused lock himself in the room after the murder?
After killing the three people, Arvind locked himself in a room of the house along with his three children. Since he had weapons, the police surrounded the entire area. The police officers appealed to the accused to open the door and send the children out safely. Help from family members was also taken to convince him, but he was not ready to come out.

The police first warned the accused and asked him to surrender. It was told that a warning shot was also fired in the air, but Arvind did not stop firing. According to the police, the police team retaliated for the safety of the children and in self-defence. During this, Arvind got seriously injured. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
