New Delhi: With the aim of further strengthening security arrangements in the capital, Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar visited various areas of South Delhi on Monday to inspect security measures on the ground. The Police Commissioner visited the ‘Pink Booth’ at LSR College, National Park, and Arun Jaitley Park in Hauz Khas to assess the ground-level security situation.
Monitoring Security: Police Responsibility on the Ground
During the visit, the Police Commissioner was accompanied by Special Commissioner of Police (Law & Order, Zone-II) Neeraj Thakur, Joint Commissioner of Police/OSD Sanjay Kumar Jain, Joint Commissioner of Police (Southern Range) Vijay Kumar, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Anant Mittal, along with other police officers and personnel.
While patrolling the area with officials, the police commissioner closely examined the security arrangements within and around the parks. Aspects such as the functioning of the ‘Pink Booth,’ police presence in parks, surveillance in the vicinity, and measures ensuring public safety were reviewed. During the visit, the commissioner enquired about the area’s security status and the existing patrolling system. He directed officials to maintain an effective police presence at sensitive locations and to keep a close watch for any suspicious activity.
Increased Police Presence in Parks
During the inspection of Arun Jaitley Park and surrounding areas, the Police Commissioner emphasized the need to maintain active security measures. He instructed officials to ensure regular and effective patrolling in the area to provide a safe environment for local residents and visitors to the parks.
Assessing Arrangements at the ‘Pink Booth’
Inspecting the ‘Pink Booth’ at LSR College was also a key part of the Commissioner’s visit. While reviewing the security arrangements at the booth, officials were directed to strengthen surveillance mechanisms in accordance with the specific conditions of the area. During the visit, the Police Commissioner emphasized that security arrangements in public spaces and parks should not remain merely on paper but should be reflected in a visible police presence on the ground. He issued necessary directives to enhance effective and regular patrolling in the area and to strengthen security measures.
Presence of Senior Officers Boosts Personnel Morale
The presence of senior officers alongside the Police Commissioner and the on-site review of security arrangements sent a clear message to subordinate personnel that the security of sensitive areas and public spaces is being continuously monitored at the highest level. During the inspection in the Hauz Khas area, the police team reviewed key aspects of security arrangements covering parks, surrounding areas, and ‘Pink Booths’. Officers were instructed to maintain vigilance and make police patrolling more effective to ensure a safe environment for the general public.
