Weather Update: Rain in Delhi-UP, Snowfall in Hills; IMD Issues Alert for 28 States

New Delhi: The weather has started changing in many parts of the country. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for rain, thunder, storms and strong winds in 28 states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, for Wednesday. There is also a possibility of snowfall along with rain in the hilly areas. Amidst this change in weather, the temperature has started falling in many areas and the sound of winter has started being felt.

Why did the weather change in Himachal and hilly areas?

Rain continues in many parts of Himachal Pradesh since Tuesday night. Hail has also occurred in many areas. There is a possibility of rain and thundershowers in some areas of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. At the same time, there is a possibility of snowfall in the high altitude areas along with light to moderate rain in the western Himalayan region.

Light to moderate rain may occur at many places in the hilly states including Uttarakhand between October 7 and 12. The effect of this change in weather can be seen in the plains also.

How will the weather be in Delhi-NCR today?

The sky is likely to be partly cloudy in the national capital Delhi and surrounding areas on Wednesday. According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in Delhi can be between 33 and 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature can be between 21 and 23 degrees Celsius.

The wind direction may change from north-west to south-east during the day. The wind speed is expected to be around 15 to 25 kilometres per hour. At present, there is less possibility of heavy rain in Delhi-NCR, but due to clouds the weather may feel cool.

What is the danger of storms and rain in Bihar and Eastern India?

There is a possibility of rain with thunderstorms and lightning at some places in Bihar. During this period, strong winds can blow at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometres per hour, while the speed of gusts is expected to reach 60 kilometres per hour.

In Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha and Sikkim also, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning regarding strong winds and thunderstorms along with rain. People have been advised to avoid going to open places during bad weather.

How will the weather be in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh?

There is a possibility of bad weather in some parts of East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. There is a possibility of thunderstorm and lightning in these areas. Sporadic rain and thundershowers may also be seen in some parts of South and West India.

According to the Meteorological Department, weather activities in different areas may vary according to local conditions.

How much loss did farmers suffer due to hailstorm in Kinnaur?

Heavy hailstorm occurred in Chaura and Taranda Panchayat areas in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday. This sudden hailstorm has caused damage to the crops and vegetables standing in the fields.

According to local farmers, vegetable plants have been damaged due to large-sized hailstones. It has also affected the standing crops in many fields. Farmers fear that production may be affected due to hailstorm.

Are changes in weather indicating the onset of winter?

Due to rain, strong winds and snowfall in hilly areas in many parts of the country, the weather has started becoming cold. However, it is too early to call this the beginning of winter, but due to the changing weather patterns, there are indications of further decline in the temperature in the coming days.
