Punjab Flood: The recent severe floods in Punjab have completely disrupted the lives of people. Many districts including Gurdaspur have been badly affected by the floods in the Ravi, Beas and Sutlej rivers. Thousands of villages have been submerged in water and lakhs of people have become homeless. In this difficult situation, the Indian Army has taken charge of relief and rescue operations and is continuously working to evacuate people and provide essential facilities in the affected areas.
Army soldiers are running operations day and night
Army personnel are carrying out operations day and night to take people to safer places. Many people from Narangpur village of Gurdaspur district were taken to the Gurudwara in Gehleri through army boats. During this time, heavy rain and strong current made the situation even more difficult, but the soldiers did not lose courage. Along with this, the relief team reached Ogra and Narangpur villages and provided food, medicines and other essential items to the people. Army doctors are also continuously treating the flood victims.
The soldiers set an example of humanity
Amidst this disaster, the Indian Army soldiers also set an example of humanity. The rescue team received information that a woman was trapped in the flood-affected area with her 15-day-old child. The woman had recently undergone a C-section surgery. Taking immediate action, the soldiers reached there and safely rescued the mother and son trapped on the upper floor of the house. After this, they were taken to a safe place about 15 kilometers away in an army vehicle.
Experts say that this flood in Punjab is proving to be the most devastating in the last forty years. So far, about 3 lakh acres of crops have been completely destroyed and more than a thousand villages have been submerged. Due to this, farmers and laborers living in rural areas are in deep trouble.
NDRF, BSF and Punjab Police teams active
Along with the Indian Army, teams of NDRF, BSF and Punjab Police are also actively involved in relief and rescue operations. Everyone is engaged in evacuating people safely and helping them. This disaster may have brought difficulties for the people, but the promptness of the army and other relief agencies has instilled hope and confidence in the affected families.
