New Delhi: Hyundai has launched its new SUV, the Bayon, in India. Its starting ex-showroom price is Rs 9.99 lakh. This is the introductory price. The company has positioned the Bayon between the Venue and the Creta. It will be available in seven trims, including the HX2, HX3, HX3+, HX5, HX6, HX8, and HX10. The HX2 is its base variant, and the HX10 is the top variant. The company has started booking for it, and deliveries are expected to begin during the festive season. The company is offering a stunning design and amazing features in it. Let’s know about the Hyundai Bayon in detail.
Strong boxy design
The Bayon coming to India features a taller and more upright SUV look than the international model. Its length is around 4.2 meters, placing it between the sub-4 meter Venue and the approximately 4.3 meter long Creta. Its design is based on Hyundai’s new ‘Art of Steel’ design theme. The front features a sculpted bonnet, H-Edge LED DRLs, split LED headlamps, and a muscular bumper. It also features geometric wheel arches, door cladding, 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, and bridge-type roof rails. The rear features H-Edge taillamps, an integrated spoiler, a shark-fin antenna, and a muscular bumper. The SUV has a ground clearance of 205 mm.
Two 12.3-inch screens and AI features
The top-spec Bayon variant features a panoramic sunroof, a curved display setup with two 12.3-inch screens, ventilated seats, fully automatic climate control, connected car features, and a touch-based climate control panel. It also features an electronic parking brake with auto-hold. A key feature is its AI-based voice assistant, developed with the help of SoundHound AI and Perplexity AI.

It’s designed to understand common speech and respond to commands. It also features the NVIDIA-based Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), BlueLink features with over 70 connected car functions, and C-OTA update support. The newly designed steering wheel features a four-dot logo and integrated controls.
1.5-litre petrol engine, CNG variant also available
The Hyundai Bayon is powered by a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated, 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 115PS of power and 144Nm of torque. The same engine is also available in the petrol variant of the Creta. It is offered with the option of a 6-speed manual and an iVT automatic gearbox. iVT is the company’s name for the CVT automatic transmission. The iVT variant also features Dash Boost Mode and Sporty Drive Technology. According to the company, these features help improve throttle response, especially while overtaking on the highway, and reduce the rubber-band effect often experienced with CVT gearboxes.
The company hasn’t yet announced its diesel or turbo-petrol engines. However, Hyundai has confirmed a CNG variant of the Bayon, which is expected to go on sale in January 2027. Regarding safety, the company claims the Bayon has been designed with the goal of achieving a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating. Official crash test results are pending.
