New Delhi: Delhi Police has expanded its women’s safety network with the launch of its 14th Pink Booth in the Northern District. Located at Indraprastha College in Civil Lines, the facility was inaugurated on Friday, October 30, by Delhi Lieutenant Governor Sardar Taranjit Singh Sandhu. Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar was also present at the event.

The initiative aims to make police assistance more accessible to female students, women faculty members and other citizens. It follows concerns and suggestions raised by students regarding their safety on and around the college campus.

A Facility Established Following Students’ Suggestions

The initiative took shape after Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu visited Indraprastha College in September 2026 and interacted with students. During the meeting, students highlighted the need for a stronger police presence near the college and a dedicated facility where they could seek assistance.

Taking their concerns into account, the Northern District Police established the Pink Booth on the college campus. With this addition, the district now has 14 such facilities, including 13 that were already operational.

What Services Will the New Pink Booth Provide?

The booth will offer assistance with several police-related services, including e-FIR registration, cybercrime complaints, missing-person reports and verification of tenants and domestic workers.

Students and women can also approach the facility to report harassment, stalking and other safety-related concerns. Where necessary, complaints will be forwarded to the concerned police station to facilitate appropriate action.

Building Trust Through Community Policing

Beyond providing a convenient point for filing complaints, the facility is intended to strengthen preventive policing and improve communication between the police and students. Regular police availability on campus is expected to help address security concerns and encourage students to report problems without hesitation.

Northern District Deputy Commissioner of Police Niharika Bhatt described the initiative as an important step towards improving women’s safety and strengthening community policing.

Delhi Police aims to create an environment in which women and girls can pursue education and carry out their daily activities with confidence. The new Pink Booth is part of these efforts to make police support more accessible and responsive.
