Gurugram: BHIM Payments App has joined hands with Goonj for the third edition of its ‘Meethi Diwali’ campaign, linking everyday digital payments with support for the education of underprivileged children.
Under the initiative, for every seventh transaction made by a user on the app between October 19 and November 8, BHIM Payments App will contribute towards providing school kits to children who need educational assistance.
How Will Everyday Payments Support Children?
The campaign encourages users to choose BHIM Payments App for their routine transactions and become part of a collective effort to help more children access essential learning materials.
For this initiative, the app has partnered with Goonj, a civil society and development organisation known for its work across India in education, community development and disaster relief, with an emphasis on dignity-centred initiatives.
The campaign aims to connect the convenience of digital payments with a wider social purpose, demonstrating how routine financial activities can contribute to meaningful community support.
Taking the Spirit of Diwali Into Classrooms
Diwali is associated with togetherness, fresh beginnings and sharing happiness with others. Through this year’s campaign, BHIM aims to extend that spirit to classrooms, where a school kit can make a meaningful difference to children from underserved communities.
The initiative also reflects the app’s commitment to making digital payments part of everyday life while creating opportunities for social impact. It reinforces the idea behind BHIM’s identity as ‘India’s own payments app’ — that even a simple, familiar activity can contribute to a larger cause.
NPCI BHIM Highlights the Importance of Educational Support
Commenting on the campaign, Gaurav Kochar, Chief of Business at NPCI BHIM, said that the true joy of festivals lies in bringing happiness to others.
He said ‘Meethi Diwali 2026’ aims to connect a simple activity such as digital payments with an important cause like children’s education. Every child, he added, should have the opportunity to learn, grow and aspire to a brighter future.
Kochar further noted that the partnership with Goonj reflects this belief by turning everyday transactions on the BHIM app into an opportunity to support the provision of essential educational materials.
