Hisar: The Election Commission of India has extended the deadline for completing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Haryana, providing voters and election officials additional time to complete pending formalities.

The final publication of the voter list, originally scheduled for November 6, 2026, will now take place on November 30. The deadline for resolving notices, claims and objections has also been extended to the same date.

The extension will give voters more time to submit the required documents and seek corrections to errors in their electoral details.

Large Number of Applications and Notices Remain Pending

During the revision exercise, officials issued 449,813 Form 6 notices, 157,673 Form 7 notices and 378,094 Form 8 notices. In addition, 4,492,696 voters were asked to submit supporting documents after their details could not be matched with the previous intensive revision records or discrepancies were identified during verification.

As per the figures shared in the update, decisions were still pending on 23,176 Form 6 applications, 5,175 Form 7 applications and 6,058 Form 8 applications.

Why Was the Deadline Extended?

The pending workload also included 12,043 notices issued for hearings and 1,044,080 cases related to photograph updates at the Booth Level Officer (BLO) level.

At the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) level, 33,100 notices and 759,024 photograph-update cases were awaiting decisions.

Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Mahender Pal said applications received and notices issued up to October 28, 2026, were scheduled to be processed by the earlier deadline. However, a substantial number of cases remained unresolved.

Taking the pending workload and voters’ convenience into account, the Election Commission decided to extend the deadline for disposing of notices, claims and objections, as well as the final publication of the electoral rolls, until November 30.

Political Parties Appoint Booth-Level Agents

To improve transparency and accuracy in the electoral rolls, political parties have appointed Booth Level Agents (BLA-2) across the state’s 20,864 polling stations.

The party-wise numbers are:

  • Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP): 19,554
  • Indian National Congress: 17,127
  • Indian National Lok Dal (INLD): 2,186
  • Jannayak Janta Party (JJP): 1,093
  • Communist Party of India (CPI): 314
  • Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP): 146
  • Aam Aadmi Party (AAP): 54

Mahender Pal said the Special Intensive Revision aims to make electoral rolls more transparent, accurate and free from errors. The extended timeline is expected to help officials clear pending cases and give voters a fair opportunity to verify their details.
