New Delhi: Everyone is eagerly awaiting the Volkswagen Virtus facelift in India. If you’re also waiting for the sedan’s facelift, there’s good news for you. The company has released the first official teaser for the facelifted model of this popular sedan. This gives a glimpse of the car’s exterior design. The new model will feature a sharper front end, updated lighting, and a sportier GT design. However, the company hasn’t yet revealed its interior or full feature list. With the teaser released, it’s believed that it may be launched in the market soon.

Virtus facelift will come with a new design

The Virtus facelift features the most significant changes to its front end. The car retains its slim headlamps, integrated with LED DRLs. A thin upper grille sits between the two headlamps, housing the Volkswagen logo. A red GT badge also appears on one side. The front bumper has been made more aggressive, featuring a larger lower air intake with a geometric design and new horizontal elements on the edges. The new design eliminates the dedicated front fog lamps. Interestingly, the company has opted for separate DRLs for both headlamps instead of adopting the trend of connected LED DRLs.

The teaser also reveals the car’s blue exterior color, dark alloy wheels, and black ORVMs. Furthermore, the existing shoulder line, traditional door handles, and sloping roofline have been retained. A GT badge on the front fender, a single-pane sunroof, and a shark-fin antenna are also visible. At the rear, the split taillamp setup features red LED lighting elements, which are connected to a dark horizontal section on the boot lid. A lip spoiler is also available on the boot.

New features can be found in the interior

The company hasn’t yet revealed a glimpse of the new Virtus’ cabin. However, it’s expected to feature new seat upholstery and updated interior trim. The current digital instrument cluster could be replaced with a larger 10.25-inch display. The existing 10.1-inch touchscreen could be retained with new software. A 360-degree camera is also a potential feature, though these changes haven’t been officially confirmed yet.

Engine and gearbox

Mechanically, the Virtus facelift is expected to continue with the existing 1.0-liter and 1.5-liter TSI turbo-petrol engines. The 1.0-liter engine produces 115 hp and 178 Nm of torque, while the 1.5-liter engine produces 150 hp and 250 Nm of torque. This time, the 1.0 TSI engine is expected to be offered with a new 8-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox, replacing the current 6-speed automatic. The 1.5 TSI engine is expected to retain the 7-speed DSG gearbox. Volkswagen has not yet revealed the launch date or price of the Virtus facelift. However, following the new teaser, it is expected that the company may reveal it in mid-November 2026.
