New Delhi: This Diwali, the festive celebrations will once again feature fireworks, but only within the boundaries of the prescribed rules. Following the Supreme Court’s directions, Delhi-NCR has been granted a limited two-day window to burst green crackers. Certified green crackers can be used only on November 7 and 8 during the designated hours. From November 9, the complete ban on firecrackers will come back into effect.
Fireworks Allowed Only During Fixed Hours
According to the Supreme Court’s order, fireworks will be permitted only between 6 AM and 7 AM and from 8 PM to 10 PM on both days. Bursting crackers outside these hours will remain prohibited. Firecrackers are also banned within a 300-metre radius of hospitals, schools, nursing homes, old-age homes and other designated silent zones.
DCP Rajendra Meena Appeals for Responsible Celebrations
During a press conference at the Shahdara District Police Headquarters, Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajendra Meena extended Diwali greetings to residents and urged them to celebrate the festival safely and responsibly. He clarified that, in accordance with the Supreme Court’s directions, only green crackers can be burst on November 7 and 8 during the specified hours. Permission has been granted for one hour in the morning and two hours at night on both days. People have been advised not to burst crackers at any other time and to strictly follow the rules.
Prioritising Environment and Public Safety
The Deputy Commissioner of Police appealed to people to ensure that festive celebrations do not cause inconvenience to others. He urged residents to remain mindful of the environment and the safety of senior citizens, children and patients, while avoiding any violation of the prescribed rules. The message is clear: let Delhi shine with the light of diyas, not smoke and noise. This Diwali, spread happiness while keeping safety a priority.
