New Delhi: On the occasion of Diwali and Lakshmi Puja, there will be a special Muhurat trading session in BSE and NSE today, Sunday 8th November. Main equity trading will take place from 2:20 pm to 3:30 pm. Investors will start Samvat 2083 with this session. The Muhurta trading session may be short, but it is also an opportunity for investors to start investing in a disciplined and thoughtful way in the new era.
What is Muhurta Trading?
Muhurta trading is a special stock market session held on Diwali. It is seen in connection with the beginning of the new era and the worship of Lakshmi. Many investors make symbolic purchases or start new investments during this period. However, the deals done in this session are like normal market trading and investment in them remains risky.
What will be the business hours today?
Pre-open session in BSE and NSE will start at 2:05 pm. Main business will run from 2:20 to 3:30 pm. Regular trading in some stocks will end at 3:15 pm, after which the closing auction process will take place. Therefore the trading and closing time is not the same for all the shares.
Will it be a completely normal business day?
Muhurta trading is a special and limited duration session. For this, the exchanges have fixed the timing of different phases. Different schedules may apply for IPO and relisted shares, thinly traded shares and shares eligible for closing auction. Investors should check the respective shares and order status on their broker’s platform before placing orders.
Is there a guarantee of profit in Muhurat session?
The traditions associated with the auspicious occasion of Diwali do not guarantee market returns. The trading volume and availability of shares for buying and selling in short sessions may be different from normal days. Investors should consider the company and the investment risk rather than choosing stocks based on mere convention.
What will happen after the business?
The settlement of equity deals struck in the Muhurta session is scheduled for Monday, November 9, under the T1 arrangement. The market will remain closed on Tuesday, November 10 due to Diwali-Balipratipada.
