Four beds have been reserved at every Community Health Centre (CHC) across the district, while 10 beds have also been arranged at the District Hospital for the treatment of burn patients.

CMO Directs Health Centres to Remain Alert

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sunil Teotia has instructed all block-level health centres and Community Health Centres to remain alert and keep emergency services operational during the festival.

CMO Inspects District Hospital’s Emergency Facilities

CMO Dr. Sunil Teotia inspected the District Hospital to review healthcare facilities and emergency medical arrangements. Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Bhuveer Singh was also present during the inspection. The officials reviewed the preparations for patient treatment. Additionally, a Community Health Centre was inspected, and directions were issued to ensure all necessary arrangements during Diwali.

Adequate Medical Staff and Essential Supplies Ensured

The CMO directed doctors and healthcare workers to maintain adequate medical staff, essential medicines, dressing materials and emergency treatment facilities in hospitals throughout the festival. The arrangements are aimed at ensuring that people injured in firecracker-related burns or other accidents receive immediate medical attention without delay.

CMO Appeals to People to Celebrate Diwali Safely

The Chief Medical Officer appealed to residents of the district to celebrate Diwali with caution. He advised people not to leave children unattended while bursting firecrackers and to use fireworks only in open spaces. Firecrackers should be kept away from inflammable materials and clothing. Special care should be taken to protect the eyes and hands, and water and first-aid supplies should be kept nearby while bursting crackers.

Immediate First Aid Recommended for Burn Injuries

The CMO stated that in case of a burn injury, the affected area should immediately be placed under cool running water. Ice, ghee, oil or toothpaste should not be applied to the wound. In case of serious burns, the injured person should be taken to the nearest hospital without delay.

Public Advised to Avoid Pollution and Maintain Health

The CMO also advised residents to avoid noise and air pollution, refrain from using firecrackers that produce excessive smoke, and take special care of elderly people, children and others suffering from respiratory problems. He further appealed to people to maintain moderation in their food consumption during Diwali, avoid adulterated sweets and ensure proper hygiene.
