Jamia Millia Islamia Opens Registration For Distance And Online Learning Courses

New Delhi: Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has started the admission process for the 2026–27 academic session under its Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) and Open and Distance Learning (ODL) programmes. The university is offering 49 courses through the CDOE. Interested candidates can apply online via the university’s admission portal. The deadline to submit applications is August 10, 2026.

Which courses does the university offer?

Under the Centre for Distance and Online Education, students can get admission in 49 courses, which include Undergraduate (UG), Post-graduate (PG), Post-graduate diploma, Advanced Diploma, Diploma and Certificate courses.

The main post-graduate courses offered by CDOE are:

  • MA (Hindi)
  • MA (English)
  • MA (History)
  • MA (Geography)
  • MA (Political Science)
  • MA (Sociology)
  • MA (Islamic Studies)
  • MA (Public Administration)
  • MA (Human Resource Management)
  • MA (Education)
  • M.Com.  
  • MBA (ODL)

The undergraduate courses offered are:

  • BA (General)
  • B.Com.
  • BBA

The university has added two new programs this year: BSc. (Bio-Sciences) and MBA (Online mode). Admission to these courses will be based on previous academic performance and an interview.

What are the important dates for the admission process?

  • Online application starts- 24 July 2026
  • Last date for online application- 10 August 2026
  • Document submission and fee payment- 31 August to 10 September 2026
  • Last date for completion of admission process- 14 September 2026

How will the selection of candidates take place?

The selection process is based on merit in most of the courses. But in some courses like MBA (ODL) and B.Ed., entrance examinations will be conducted on 22 August 2026. The selection process for new courses like BSc. (Bio-Sciences) and the MBA (Online mode) will be based on merit and interview.

How can a candidate apply for admission to JMI?

(ii) To register for admission, candidates are required to use the online form available at JMI’s Admission Portal: www.jmicoe.in

(iii) Before applying for admission, a candidate is advised to ensure his/her eligibility as per the criteria laid down in the prospectus.

(iv) A candidate must have passed the qualifying examination from a board/university/institute recognised by JMI. Jamia Millia Islamia recognises degrees from all central universities, state universities, institutions of national importance, and foreign universities, provided that their equivalence has been established by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Besides, the university also recognises certain qualifications from the reputed madrasas as well, the details of which are provided in Annexure– I of the prospectus. 

(v) Candidates whose results for the qualifying examinations have not been declared may also apply. However, for programmes whose eligibility is a bachelor’s degree, etc, they must submit the required certificates, etc. (of first declared result) within a given time period, failing which their admission will be cancelled.

(vi) During the Registration process, the following information/details should be available with the candidate:

• Academic Bank of Credit ID (ABC ID) and UGC ‘DEB-ID’. Both these IDs are to be created by the applicants themselves.
• A valid and readily accessible Email ID. Please note that, if required, JMI may use the registered email for future communication with the candidate.
• Soft copy of candidate’s colour passport-size photograph with white background (Maximum 100KB in size) in JPG/JPEG format.
• Soft copy of candidate’s signature (Maximum 100 KB in size) in JPG/JPEG format.

(vii) Candidates may use the preview option to cross-check the correctness of entries filled by them online before confirming the submission of the application form. Any required correction(s) except in “Name” and “Date-of-Birth” in the registration information may be made before completing/Confirming the registration portion in the form. The
detailed guidelines for editing will be published on www.jmicoe.in.

(viii) Once the registration of the admission form is successfully submitted, the system will send an email bearing the Unique Code with a link to verify the email account, and login (email address), and password to access the account to the registered email address. After link verification, and using an email address and password, the candidate may log in to the portal and proceed to apply for the program(s) of his/her choice and pay the applicable entrance application fees.

(ix) In case of submission of an Online form through Cyber I/at any other place, a candidate is also advised to go through the guidelines and get the form filled in his/her presence and provide his/her contact information such as email and mobile number wherever required. The University will not be responsible for any mistake made by the candidate while filling out the admission form.

(x) Candidates are advised to bring the hard copy at the time of verification of documents. Print may be taken out after logging into the admission portal at: www.jmicoe.in

(xi) Candidates may check the status of their application form on the JMI admission website, i.e., www.jmicoe.in.
