A 22-year-old man from Chhattisgarh’s Dhamtari district allegedly killed his wife and later died by suicide after sharing a confession on Instagram, police said on Wednesday. In his social media post, the man reportedly held his wife’s parents responsible for the tragedy.
Police Investigation and Findings
A police team, along with forensic experts, reached the spot soon after the incident. “The postmortem confirmed that the woman was strangled with a scarf, while the man used a sari to hang himself,” a police officer stated. According to the family, the couple had been married for a year. A few months after the marriage, they began living with the woman’s parents. They had come to the man’s home to celebrate Diwali when the incident happened, the officer added.
Events Leading to the Incident
Police said the couple was last seen entering their room around 11 pm on Monday. When they didn’t respond the next morning, the man’s elder brother looked through the ventilation and saw the woman lying still on the floor and the man hanging from the ceiling. The family broke open the door and informed the police. A case has been registered, and further investigation is ongoing, officials said.
