Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday took part in the Chhattisgarh Rajat Mahotsav held in Nava Raipur to mark 25 years since the creation of the state. During the event, he inaugurated and laid foundation stones for development works worth over Rs 14,260 crore in areas such as roads, power, health, and industry. He also opened the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Tribal Freedom Fighters Museum and joined the Griha Pravesh ceremony for 3.51 lakh new homes built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin).
PM Modi said it was an emotional moment to be part of the silver jubilee celebration, recalling the state’s formation during the time of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. “Twenty-five years ago, the government of Atal Bihari Vajpayee gave you the Chhattisgarh of your dreams,” he said, adding that the state has now grown into a “tree full of development.”
Roads and Connectivity Progress
PM Modi praised Chhattisgarh’s improvement in road infrastructure, mentioning that the state’s rural road network has now reached 40,000 kilometres. He announced a new four-lane highway project that will enhance road links between Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, making travel faster and trade smoother between the two states.
Healthcare and Housing Growth
Speaking on the state’s progress in health services, PM Modi said that Chhattisgarh has moved from having just one medical college to 14, along with an AIIMS in Raipur. He shared that more than 5,500 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are now serving people across the state. Highlighting the housing achievements, he said 3.5 lakh families were moving into their new homes that day, with Rs 1,200 crore released to three lakh beneficiaries. “Each house represents a family’s dream and happiness,” he added.
Energy and Infrastructure Boost
The Prime Minister launched many key infrastructure projects, including a Rs 3,150-crore Greenfield Highway under the Bharatmala Pariyojana and several new highway upgrades in Bastar, Narayanpur, and Deobhog. In the power sector, he inaugurated the ER–WR Interconnection Project, which boosts electricity transfer between the eastern and western grids by 1,600 MW, and dedicated energy projects worth Rs 3,750 crore.
Industrial and Energy Expansion
PM Modi also inaugurated HPCL’s Rs 460-crore Petroleum Oil Depot in Raipur and dedicated the 489-kilometre Nagpur–Jharsuguda Natural Gas Pipeline, costing Rs 1,950 crore, connecting 11 districts of Chhattisgarh to the National Gas Grid.
As the state celebrated its 25th Foundation Day, PM Modi highlighted how Chhattisgarh has transformed in the last two and a half decades—from facing early challenges to becoming a strong centre for infrastructure, healthcare, and industry growth.
