Chandigarh: Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh got a big relief on Saturday in the Ramchandra Chhatrapati murder case. The Punjab and Haryana High Court acquitted him in the case. In 2019, the CBI Special Court had sentenced him to life imprisonment, but the court has now reversed this decision. Despite this decision, Ram Rahim will still remain in jail.
When was Ramchandra Chhatrapati murdered?
This case is from 2002. Ramchandra Chhatrapati had reported against the camp. He was shot on 24 October 2002 and died two days later. CBI filed the charge sheet in 2007. Ram Rahim was accused of murder in this case.

Punjab and Haryana High Court said that the evidence in the case was weak and the prosecution could not prove the case. The lower court’s decision was wrong because sufficient evidence was not found in the case. Even the statements of the witnesses were weak. The prosecution did not make a strong case. Because of this Ram Rahim was acquitted.

Reacting to the High Court’s decision, Chhatrapati’s son Anish said that we did not get justice. This decision is very disappointing. He said that he is preparing to go to the Supreme Court. The family is still in shock.

He is still in jail. He is serving a sentence in the rape and Ranjeet Kaur murder case. At present he has got relief in this case. His supporters are happy with this decision of the court. While the opponents are talking about going to the Supreme Court.
