Although the police had claimed to recover Rana’s belongings soon after the murder, now the police have been forced to arrest the accused who stole Rana’s 40 bore pistol from the scene of the incident. The accused has been identified as Gurmail Singh, a resident of Hamirgarh village. The accused was arrested by the police of Nehianwala Police Station when he snatched a motorcycle and mobile phone from a person with the same pistol he had stolen. When the police examined the recovered pistol, they were surprised to find that the said pistol belonged to Rana.

The police have also recovered the stolen bullet motorcycle from him. The accused said that when Rana was murdered, he stole his pistol and escaped by saving his eye. DSP Bhucho Pritpal Singh said that the accused, Gurmail Singh was arrested by the police of Nehianwala police station, who produced him in court and gave him a three-day police remand. He said that during interrogation, the accused recovered the stolen bullet motorcycle. In December 2025, Rana Balachauria was shot dead during the Sohna Khel Mela, and his pistol fell there during the incident, from where Gurmail had stolen it. A case has also been registered against an unknown person in the Sohna police station in the case of pistol theft. He said that apart from this, the accused had fired shots in a land dispute with this stolen pistol in the Bhagta Bhaika area, in connection with which a case has also been registered against him.

At the time of Rana Balachauria’s murder, he was wearing a 10 tola gold chain and a 5 tola gold bracelet, which had also been stolen by someone. At that time, the management had appealed to return the gold. The management had said that in return, they were ready to give the person money equal to the value of the gold so that Rana’s parents could be given the last trace of their son. After this, the police had registered a case in the Sohana police station against the unknown person who stole the goods. Now, the 40-bore pistol stolen from Rana Balachauria during the incident has been recovered, but nothing has been found about the gold chain and bracelet.
