Ludhiana: A horrifying incident has unfolded in Ludhiana, Punjab. In Jamalpur, a 35-year-old man abducted a 14-year-old girl on her way to school and took her to a cremation ground, where he brutally assaulted her. The accused is said to be the victim’s neighbor. Police have registered a case against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to reports, the incident occurred on the morning of April 1st, when the girl, a resident of the Sahibana area, was leaving for school as usual. As she was a short distance from her home, Neeraj Kumar (35), a resident of the same neighborhood, stopped her on the way. The accused threatened to kill her and forced her onto his motorcycle. He then took her to Ram Nagar, threatening her.
According to the complaint filed by the victim’s mother, the accused continued to drive the girl around on his motorcycle for a considerable period. During this time, he continued to pressure the minor into marriage. When the student protested and pleaded to go home, Neeraj silenced her with repeated threats of death.
The accused forcibly took the victim to the cremation ground in Sahibana village. Taking advantage of the secluded location, he raped her. The accused then left the victim near the neighborhood and fled the scene.
Upon reaching home, the student was terrified. When her mother questioned her, she narrated her ordeal. The family immediately informed the Jamalpur police station. The police took action, identified the accused, Neeraj Kumar, and registered a case under various sections.
Police officials say that the administration has a zero-tolerance policy against crimes against women and children. Strong evidence is being gathered against the accused, and raids are underway to arrest him.
