New Delhi: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will be sworn in as a Rajya Sabha member in Delhi on Friday. He arrived in Delhi on Thursday to formally begin the process and was welcomed there by JDU National Executive President Sanjay Kumar Jha and other party leaders.

What did Nitish Kumar say?

After arriving in Delhi on Thursday, Nitish Kumar interacted with the media and said, “Tomorrow I will take the oath (as the member of the Rajya Sabha) and now I will stay here. I have worked here (Delhi) for a long time, now I will work here again.” 

Nitish will be administered the oath as a member of the upper house in the chamber of the Rajya Sabha chairman C P Radhakrishnan.

The swearing-in will accelerate the process of power transition in Bihar.

Did Nitish Kumar give hint about next CM?

While replying to question regarding who will succeed him in Bihar, Nitish did not answer directly but said, “New people will be given the responsibility.” And when asked again about his preferred successor, he said, “I have done a lot of work in Bihar for 20 years, and the work will continue going forward.”

Will Nitish Kumar resign after April 13?

According to sources, Nitish Kumar may resign as Chief Minister after April 13. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar won the Rajya Sabha elections that was held on March 16. 

Janata Dal (United) working president Sanjay Kumar Jha said the process to pick Nitish Kumar’s successor will commence after the inauspicious period of ‘Khadmas’ that ends on April 13.

“Generally, people avoid important work in the Khadmas period. After he returns, the transition process will start from April 14,” he said.

When did Nitish Kumar resign a MLC?

Nitish Kumar on March 30 resigned as Member of the Legislative Council (MLC), days after his election as a Member of the Rajya Sabha (MP). The senior leader was elected to the Upper House on March 16.

Who submitted Nitish’s resignation?

The resignation was submitted to Council Chairman Awadhesh Narayan Singh at the Chief Minister’s official residence. 

The Janata Dal United MLC Sanjay Gandhi arrived at the Bihar Legislative Council on March 30 to formally submit Nitish Kumar’s resignation letter to the secretariat.
