Bhopal: After the murder of a young man in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh, police has exposed a web of betrayal, humiliation, and cold-blooded conspiracy. The wife who was crying over her husband’s death and pleading for his return, turned out to be his murderer.
When did the incident happen?
The victim, who is identified as Purohit Devkrishna and 28-year-old, was found murdered in his home on April 7 night.
The accused wife Priyanka had conspired to murder her husband along with her lover Kamlesh. She killed her husband Devkrishna by giving a contract of Rs 1 lakh.
After the incident, she described the entire incident as a murder for robbery, but all her tricks failed in front of the police.
How did story began with murder for robbery?
Priyanka Purohit, who is a resident of Gondikheda Charan in Dhar district, filed a case of murder against her husband, Devkrishna, on April 7.
She told the police that unidentified robbers had broken into the house at night and took them both hostage. When she resisted, the assailants killed her husband with a sharp weapon.
Priyanka then told police that they looted valuables worth Rs 3.5 lakh.

During the investigation, when police started putting the sequence of events together, the story started to feel like a scripted story of lie.
What did Priyanka say in statement?
As the police investigation progressed, Priyanka Purohit came under suspicion. She repeatedly changed her statements. During a search of the house, the police recovered the jewellery claimed to have been stolen. Furthermore, the police team found evidence at the scene that clearly established the killer was someone known to her. Following this, the police interrogated Priyanka rigorously, and she confessed.
What did family say?
Family members of the victim revealed that their marriage had long been troubled.
Devkrishna’s sister Jyoti alleged that Priyanka, who is 25-years-old, would often humiliate him, saying, “You are dark-skinned… you don’t deserve me… I deserve someone better.”
When did the marriage happen?
The investigation further revealed that Priyanka and Devkrishna were married at the age of 15. She was having an affair with Kamlesh Purohit, who is a 32-year-old resident of Rajgarh.
They wanted to live together, but Devkrishna’s presence prevented this from happening. Consequently, Priyanka and Kamlesh hatched a conspiracy.
How did they plan the murder?
Kamlesh contracted his partner, Surendra Bhati, to murder Devkrishna for Rs 1 lakh. As per the plan, Surendra went to Devkrishna’s house and killed him while he was sleeping. He then tied Priyanka up in another room. After Surendra left, Priyanka raised an alarm and told her family about the robbery.
Following the discovery of the murder, the police arrested Priyanka and her lover, Kamlesh. Surendra is still absconding; the police are searching for him.
