West Delhi. If you are planning to buy jeans from expensive brands like Levi’s, Zara, or Tommy Hilfiger from the market, exercise caution before heading out to shop. The District Investigation Unit (DIU) of the West District Police has busted a gang that was running a “fake goods racket” involving your favorite branded jeans behind the closed walls of the Naraina Industrial Area.
Sewing Machines Recovered
Conducting simultaneous raids at four different locations, the police recovered a massive quantity of counterfeit jeans from renowned brands such as Levi’s, Zara, Calvin Klein, and Tommy Hilfiger, along with thousands of fake labels and sewing machines. For quite some time, the police had been receiving intelligence that counterfeit clothing was being manufactured in the Naraina area in violation of the copyrights and trademarks of prominent international brands. Based on this information, a dedicated team was constituted. After obtaining search warrants from the court, the police executed a meticulously planned, simultaneous raid across the four suspected hideouts.
Goods and Machinery Worth Lakhs Seized
During the raids, the police discovered a large stock of finished jeans and raw materials. Representatives of the respective brands, present at the scene, immediately confirmed that all the garments were counterfeit. The police recovered over 3,400 finished counterfeit branded jeans from the premises. Additionally, more than 9,000 fake labels and tags were seized. Seven heavy-duty industrial sewing machines—which were being used to stitch the counterfeit goods—were also confiscated from the site. The police have apprehended four key accused individuals in connection with this case, each of whom was operating a separate manufacturing unit. Among them is Vipin Sardana, a resident of Kirtinagar, from whose unit the largest haul—2,510 fake jeans and 4 machines—was recovered. Another accused is Rishabh Garg, a resident of Inderpuri, who was manufacturing Calvin Klein jeans and processing raw materials for Levi’s.
Also apprehended was Neeraj Bhambri, a resident of Noida, who was engaged in the production of counterfeit Tommy Hilfiger jeans. Finally, Ravi Prakash of Inderpuri was arrested, and 300 counterfeit Calvin Klein jeans were recovered from his possession.
