New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued an advisory for candidates appearing for the NEET UG 2026 re-exam. The exam will be held on June 21 at various exam centers across the country.
What did the NTA say?
To ensure a safe and secure exam, the NTA has issued guidelines regarding the dress code, biometric verification, and items to be carried into the exam center. The NEET UG 2026 re-exam will be held from 2 pm to 5:15 pm. For PWD and PwBD candidates eligible for extra time, the exam will continue until 6:20 pm.
What can candidates carry to the examination centre?
In view of the rainy season, candidates have been granted certain exemptions. Transparent water bottles are permitted inside the recruitment examination center. Admit cards are also permitted to be kept in a transparent plastic pouch for safekeeping. The NTA has stated that candidates should only bring items necessary for the exam.
What are the rules regarding dress code?
The NTA has advised candidates to wear light clothing to the re-exam center. Although full-sleeved or woolen clothing is permitted if necessary, they should arrive early to ensure smooth checking. Regarding footwear, it is recommended to wear slippers or low-heeled sandals. Candidates wearing high-heeled shoes may face more scrutiny.
The NTA has also issued guidelines regarding religious items and clothing. Candidates wearing sacred thread, turbans, hijabs, religious symbols, or other religious items will be permitted. However, such candidates must arrive at the examination center before other candidates so they can be thoroughly checked. The NTA stated that security procedures may take additional time, so reporting early is essential.
What is banned?
No electronic devices of any kind are permitted inside the examination center. Mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, earphones, and other electronic devices are strictly prohibited. Large belts, buckles, metal objects, heavy jewellery, and other metal accessories are also prohibited.
What about biometric verification?
All candidates appearing for the re-NEET exam will undergo biometric verification before entering the exam center. This will include a fingerprint or face scan. If biometric verification is not possible due to technical reasons, internet issues, server problems, or data-related issues, candidates will not be prevented from taking the exam. In such a situation, they will be required to fill out a declaration form provided at the exam center, after which they will be allowed to appear. The NTA has clarified that the biometric process will not cause any inconvenience to any candidate and, if necessary, this process can be completed before or after the exam begins.
