After Bihar, SIR will now be held in Delhi, Election Commission begins preparations

Following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar, preparations for the SIR have now begun in the national capital, Delhi. The Election Commission has begun preparations for the successful conduct of the SIR in Delhi. While no date has been set yet, groundwork for the process is in its final stages, and relevant staff are being trained.

For public convenience, the voter list from the 2002 Special Intensive Revision and the mapping of current Assembly constituencies with the 2002 Assembly constituencies have been uploaded on the Delhi Election Commission’s website. According to the Delhi Election Commission, vacancies in the Chief Electoral Officer’s (CEO) office are being filled and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are being trained. An official said the revision drive is expected to ensure greater accuracy and transparency in the voter list before the next elections.

Election Commission Launches Special Revision

The Election Commission has informed the public that, in order to fulfill its constitutional obligation to maintain the purity of electoral rolls, it has decided to initiate a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) across the country. The CEO Delhi office has begun preparations for the successful conduct of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

BLOs Appointed, Officials Properly Trained

Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been appointed in all Assembly constituencies. All relevant officials, including District Election Officers, Electoral Registration Officers, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, and Booth Level Officers, have been trained. For the convenience of the general public, the voter list from the 2002 Special Intensive Revision has been made available on the CEO, Delhi website at https://www.ceodelhi.gov.in/ElectoralRoll_2002.aspx.

2002 Voter List Available Online

In addition, the current assembly constituencies have been mapped to the 2002 assembly constituencies, which is available on the CEO Delhi website at https://ceodelhi.gov.in/SIR2025.aspx. The public is urged to review the 2002 voter list and verify their name and father’s/mother’s name.

House Visits With Enumeration Forms

This process will be helpful during the house-to-house (H2H) visits by BLOs during the special intensive revision, when they will have the public fill out the Enumeration Form (distributed in duplicate) along with the required documents. Individuals whose names appear in both the 2002 and 2025 voter lists will only need to submit an extract from the 2002 voter list along with the Enumeration Form.

Parents’ Records Needed For Verification

In cases where the name of the existing elector is not in the electoral roll of the year 2002 but the name of his/her parents (father/mother) is in that list, the elector will have to submit the enumeration form along with one of his/her identity documents and the extract of the electoral roll of the year 2002 of his/her parents.
