New Delhi: Apple has set a limit for iPhone customers in India. A customer can now purchase a total of two iPhones from the company’s online store. This rule applies not only to the new iPhone Duo, iPhone 18 Pro, and iPhone 18 Pro Max, but to all iPhone models.
Customers can purchase two of the same model or choose different models. However, the website will display a warning if a third iPhone is added to an order. This change comes as Apple’s first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, is set to go on sale in India on October 23. Pre-bookings for the smartphone began on October 16.
Why did Apple put a limit on purchasing iPhones?
Apple has not yet provided a reason for this decision. However, it is believed that the purpose of this rule may be to prevent people from purchasing and reselling large quantities of phones and to maintain the availability of phones for general consumers. When adding a third iPhone on Apple’s website, customers receive a message stating that a customer can purchase a maximum of two iPhones. To proceed further, the number of phones in the order will need to be reduced.
This means that if a customer wants to buy 3 or more iPhones for his family members or to gift them, he will not be allowed to do so in a single order from Apple’s online store.
The limit was imposed even 19 years ago
This isn’t the first time Apple has imposed such a limit. Back in 2007, when the first iPhone was launched, the company had imposed a limit of two phones per customer. This was intended to prevent the black marketing of large-scale purchases of phones and reselling them.
The decision comes amid rising demand for the iPhone Duo
Apple’s move comes amid reports of strong demand for the iPhone Duo, which opened for pre-booking on October 16. According to reports, delivery estimates for some customers were pushed back to January shortly after bookings opened.
