The Uttarakhand government has introduced a free pre-recruitment training program for young men and women who want to join the Indian Armed Forces as Agniveers. Approved by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, this program reflects the state’s strong military tradition and aims to encourage youth to serve the nation.
Training Across All Districts
Officials said the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare has created a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to ensure smooth implementation of the program. Training sessions will be organized in all 13 districts of Uttarakhand, making it easier for candidates from remote and rural areas to participate. The program will cover physical fitness, preparation for written exams, and personality development, helping candidates meet the demanding requirements of the Agniveer recruitment process.
Who Can Apply
To join the training, participants must be permanent residents or natives of Uttarakhand, or they should be studying or working in a state-based institution. Applicants must have completed high school with at least 45% marks overall and 33% in each subject. The minimum age for enrollment is 16 years. These rules are designed to ensure that eligible youth get focused and effective preparation for a career in the defense forces.
Government’s Vision
Chief Minister Dhami highlighted Uttarakhand’s proud military history, saying the state has always produced brave soldiers who serve the country with honor. “This free pre-recruitment training will prepare our youth to join the armed forces as Agniveers and make the state proud,” he said. He also added that the government will provide reservation benefits in state government jobs for Agniveers after completing their service, offering them long-term career security.
Encouraging Youth and Patriotism
The program supports Uttarakhand’s wider goal of youth empowerment, promoting physical fitness, skills development, and patriotism. The government hopes the initiative will inspire many young people to consider careers in national defense while also improving their employment opportunities after service.
