The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will start early metro services on October 12 to help participants of the Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon reach the venue on time. The marathon is scheduled at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, and DMRC has changed its train timings to allow early access for attendees.
Early Services on Key Metro Lines
According to DMRC, trains will start running from 3:15 AM at the terminal stations of the Red, Yellow, Blue, and Violet Lines. These early services are designed to help marathon runners reach the stadium without delay.
Red Line: Rithala to Shaheed Sthal
Yellow Line: Samaypur Badli to Millennium City Centre, Gurugram
Blue Line: Dwarka Sec-21 to Noida Electronic City/Vaishali
Violet Line: Kashmere Gate to Raja Nahar Singh
From 3:15 AM to 4:00 AM, trains will run every 15 minutes. Between 4:00 AM and 6:00 AM, trains will arrive every 20 minutes. After 6:00 AM, the usual Sunday schedule will start.
Free Metro Travel for Marathon Participants
For lines not directly linked to the marathon, normal Sunday timings will continue. To make travel easier, marathon organisers will provide free metro rides for runners. Special wristbands with QR codes can be collected along with the race bibs. These wristbands allow participants to travel on the metro for free throughout the day.
Assistance at Metro Stations
Volunteers will be present at important stations such as Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Jor Bagh, Janpath, and Jangpura. They will guide runners and provide help with directions on the event day, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience for all participants.
