New Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested a 43-year-old man from Kozhikode, Kerala, for his alleged involvement in a cyber fraud case investigated by the Mayapuri Police Station in West Delhi. The accused, identified as Raju, allegedly allowed his bank accounts to be used to receive money obtained through cyber fraud in exchange for a commission.
According to police, ₹98,001 in suspected fraud proceeds was traced to his bank account, which was linked to six complaints registered on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
Bank Account Helps Police Uncover Suspected Fraud Trail
West District DCP Hareshwar V. Swami said the case originated from a complaint filed by a woman who reported two unauthorised transactions from her joint Canara Bank account.
The transactions involved ₹98,001 and ₹98,002, bringing the total amount affected to ₹1,96,003.
An e-FIR, numbered 310/2026, was registered on June 6, 2026, under Sections 318(4) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
How Did the Investigation Lead Police from Delhi to Kerala?
Given the seriousness of the case, Mayapuri Police examined bank records, transaction details and documents obtained from the concerned banks.
During the investigation, officers traced ₹98,001 to an account held with Central Bank of India in the name of Raju, a resident of Kerala. Following this lead, a police team travelled to Kozhikode and arrested the accused.
Police said the account was also linked to six complaints recorded on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, prompting further investigation into its suspected use in cybercrime-related transactions.
Accused Allegedly Provided Bank Accounts for Commission
According to police, the accused allegedly disclosed during questioning that he had allowed his bank accounts to be used to receive money linked to cyber fraud in return for a commission.
He reportedly told investigators that he withdrew the money from the account and handed it over in cash to an unidentified person.
Police are continuing their investigation to trace the remaining suspected proceeds, identify other people involved and establish the full extent of the alleged network.

The operation was carried out by Sub-Inspector Robin Khattana, Constable Puneet and Constable Anil under the supervision of Station House Officer Inspector Mohinder Lal and Assistant Commissioner of Police Inderraj Singh Meena.
