Delhi: Police Crack Courier Parcel Theft of 385 Mobile Phones Worth ₹30 Lakh, Four Arrested

Delhi Police have solved a high-value courier parcel theft case involving the theft of 385 mobile phones worth around Rs 30 lakh. So far, police have arrested four people involved in this case. The accused were identified as Abhishek Singh (27), Vikas Singh Tomar (22), Kishan Chauhan (20), and Chetan Jha (28), according to the police.

An online FIR was registered at Karol Bagh police station on Friday under Section 303(2) BNS after a mobile phone trader from Siwan, Bihar, filed a complaint. He said he has been running his mobile shop for 8–10 years and had ordered 385 new mobile phones from wholesalers in Karol Bagh, Delhi, on August 31.

How the Phones Were Sent

The order was booked through BHR Courier at Bank Street, Karol Bagh, and handed over to courier driver Abhishek Singh. He was tasked with taking the parcels in an e-rickshaw to New Delhi Railway Station to be sent through Vaishali Express. However, when the parcels reached Siwan, the trader found only cardboard and scrap paper inside instead of the mobile phones he had ordered.

Police Investigation and CCTV Search

Police scanned hundreds of CCTV recordings to track down the accused and the e-rickshaw used in the theft. Acting on a tip-off on September 6, a raid was carried out in Beadonpura. Two brothers, Vikas Singh and Abhishek Singh, were arrested. During a search of their homes, an e-rickshaw with six boxes containing 376 stolen mobile phones was recovered.

How the Theft Was Planned

During questioning, Vikas Singh revealed that he drove an e-rickshaw in Karol Bagh and that his elder brother Abhishek worked with BHR Courier. Facing financial trouble, Vikas teamed up with his friend Kishan Chauhan to steal expensive parcels. On August 31, they replaced the real parcels with fake ones near Jhandewalan using a duplicate key. The stolen parcels were taken to a hideout in Karol Bagh and repacked into six boxes. Kishan kept nine phones for himself, and the rest were seized by the police.

More Arrests and Recovery Efforts

With continuous surveillance, Kishan Chauhan was traced to Ashoka Pahari, Jhandewalan, and Karol Bagh on Monday. Further investigation led to the arrest of his associate, Chetan Jha, from Uttam Nagar East, Delhi. Police said efforts are still underway to recover the remaining stolen property.
