National News: The long-standing Dharmasthala case has taken a dramatic turn as investigations have dismissed Sujata Bhatt’s claims about her daughter Ananya’s disappearance in 2003. For months, Sujata alleged that powerful figures silenced the truth, but official inquiries have revealed otherwise. Records, testimonies, and forensic evidence show glaring inconsistencies, with no proof of Ananya’s enrollment in college and the SIT confirming that the recovered skull belonged to a male, not female. CBI findings further discredited her allegations, highlighting contradictions in employment records and the absence of supporting local testimonies.
No record of Ananya Bhatt
Sujatha says her daughter was an MBBS student at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal. Yet the college has confirmed that no student by that name was ever registered. There are no school records, admission cards, or official certificates to support her claim. Even family members and old acquaintances say they never knew Sujatha had a daughter.
SIT probe rejects evidence
The controversy deepened when former sanitation worker Bhima claimed to have buried bodies at the shrine and presented a skull as proof. But the Special Investigation Team (SIT) found that the remains were not of a woman but of a man, dismissing the claim.
Contradictions in Sujata’s story
Sujatha also alleged that she was kidnapped, tied to a chair, and later left in a coma in hospital for three months. However, hospitals in the area did not provide any records matching her description. She further claimed that she had worked as a stenographer with the CBI in Kolkata, but the agency confirmed that no employment records of her existed. Between 1999 and 2007, Sujatha was widely known to have lived with Prabhakar Baliga in Ripponpet, Shivamogga. Local magazines even described the couple as childless animal lovers.
Past differences and objectives
In recent years, Sujatha has also accused the Dharmadhikari family of Dharmasthala of humiliating and silencing her, though her accounts of where and how these incidents occurred vary. Critics argue that these allegations seem to have less to do with justice and more to do with personal vengeance and public sympathy, with the story of the missing daughter serving as an emotional trigger.
Demand for action against fake news
Amid growing confusion, locals have urged the Karnataka police to take action against the deliberate propaganda campaign being spread against the shrine. The SIT’s findings of missing male remains, fake employment claims, and institutional records have further strengthened the demand for accountability.
Concocted story
What was once told to be the tragic story of a mother’s fight for justice has now turned out to be a fabrication during the investigation. With no proof of Ananya Bhatt’s existence, no official records, and repeated exposure of false claims, the case is moving towards fiction rather than fact.
