New Delhi: Ranveer Singh’s film ‘Dhurandhar 2’ has created an absolute sensation at the box office. The film has arrived like a tsunami, shattering previous box office records into dust. Its success is being trumpeted across the globe. ‘Dhurandhar 2’ has achieved a gross worldwide collection of ₹900 crore. The movie’s storyline is set in Pakistan—specifically Lyari town in Karachi —which is precisely why the Bollywood movies ‘Dhurandhar 1’ and ‘Dhurandhar 2’ have stirred up a lot of interest and buzz among the people of the neighboring nation.
What is Lyari Residents’ Reaction to ‘Dhurandhar 2’ Earnings?
A video has surfaced on the internet showing that the astronomical earnings of ‘Dhurandhar 2’ have really stung the residents of Lyari. The situation has escalated to the point where they are now demanding a share of the film’s profits. The locals appeared astonished by Dhurandhar’s explosive box office performance. In the viral video, when asked about the film’s worldwide business, one individual remarked: “In my opinion, they should give 80 percent of the earnings to Lyari. They keep making movies all the time; that is their job. If one film doesn’t make money, another one does.”
Another person added: “They have already earned up to ₹800 crore. At the very least, tell them to use the money they earned from ‘Cheel Chowk’ to give it a fresh coat of paint. Show them the current state of Cheel Chowk and tell them to renovate it. You earned your money thanks to this eagle [Cheel]. The least you can do is do something for this eagle.”
What is the reaction to ‘Dhurandhar’ in Pakistan?
This reaction from the Pakistani public is rapidly going viral among Indian fans. Few people are likely aware that this film was not actually shot in Pakistan. Aditya Dhar’s team meticulously recreated Pakistan’s Lyari in Thailand. From Cheel Chowk to the narrow lanes of Lyari, the sets were designed with such intricate detail that fans were left confused, unable to distinguish between the real-life locations and the cinematic recreations. A sprawling 6-acre set depicting Lyari was constructed in Bangkok.
The Lyari set was even constructed with the aid of newspaper clippings to ensure absolute authenticity. It was created through the collaborative efforts of numerous Indian and Thai artists. In addition to Bangkok, sets for *Dhurandhar* were erected at various locations across India. The film was shot in Ludhiana, Mumbai, Amritsar, Leh, and Ladakh.
