The Smart City sewerage scheme in Muzaffarpur is still incomplete even after its deadline was extended for the fourth time to August 31. This plan was supposed to connect 5,000 homes to the sewer line, but work like one of the three pumping stations is still incomplete.

Prem Dev Sharma, Senior Technical Manager of the Smart City company, said that the sewerage treatment plant (STP) at Daudpur Kothi is likely to be ready and start working by the end of October. Testing is going on now, and after it begins, the STP will clean wastewater from nearby wards and release it into Sikandarpur Man (lake). Under the Smart City project, work is also being done to handle sewage from 8,000 homes in the ADB Area.

DRM Unhappy Over Slow Progress at Station

On Saturday, Samastipur DRM Jyoti Prakash Mishra made a surprise visit to Muzaffarpur Junction and reviewed all earlier assigned work. He expressed displeasure over the slow progress at the station.

Although some improvement was seen, he asked officials to improve cleanliness and pressed the Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) to finish the delayed construction of platforms one and six, which were supposed to be ready by August 30.

Orders to Speed Up Pending Work

The construction agency had sent a letter to the Inspector of Works (IOW) for line fitness certification, but some problems were found, and the IOW informed the RLDA. The DRM also spoke directly with RLDA officials to speed up the work.

During his visit, DRM Mishra checked the washing pit at Jivdhara station meant for Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat trains. He told officials to complete this project soon. Area Officer Ravi Shankar Mahto, RPF Inspector Manish Kumar, Station Manager Akhilesh, and other officials were present with him during the inspection.
