Ex Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat narrowly escapes accident on Delhi-Dehradun NH

Former Uttarakhand Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Harish Rawat narrowly escaped an accident on Saturday evening. While traveling from Delhi to Dehradun, his convoy’s Innova car suddenly hit the police escort vehicle in front. The front part of his car was badly damaged, but fortunately, the former CM was completely safe and unhurt.

Escort vehicle’s sudden brake caused the accident

According to reports, Harish Rawat left Delhi for Dehradun with his convoy. As soon as they entered the Meerut border, a police escort was provided. On Saturday evening, when the convoy reached near MIET College amid heavy traffic on the Delhi-Dehradun Highway, the escort vehicle in front suddenly applied brakes. The Innova following it, carrying Harish Rawat, couldn’t stop in time and crashed into the escort car.

Former CM shifted to another vehicle

Right after the accident, security personnel immediately moved Harish Rawat to another car, and the convoy continued its journey to Dehradun. The damaged Innova was removed from the highway by police and parked at a Toyota service center for repairs.

Police statement on the incident

SSP Dr. Vipin Tada said the accident was a minor collision caused by the escort vehicle’s sudden braking. No one was injured. The former Chief Minister was safely escorted by police up to the Muzaffarnagar border. SP Traffic Raghvendra Mishra also spoke to Harish Rawat over the phone and inquired about his well-being. Harish Rawat assured that he was completely fine and continued his scheduled journey to Dehradun after the incident.
