New revelations are emerging daily in the case of the death of Aqeel, son of former Punjab DGP Mohammad Mustafa. Now, Mustafa himself has come forward and
given a statement about his son’s mental condition, his past behavior and the serious allegations leveled against the family. He said that his son was mentally ill and his entire family was suffering from mental distress due to him for the past several years.
Mustafa said that his son, Aqeel, became completely mentally ill in 2024. His mental state had deteriorated to the point that he himself could not understand what he was saying or doing. He said , “Aqeel even said in a video that our women – my wife, daughter-in-law and daughter – run the brothel . He used to say that we offer our women to any political figure who comes to our house. Imagine how a father can tolerate such things?”
The former DGP said that due to his son’s mental condition, he had to change his school and university several times. He had also attacked police officers several times. To resolve the matter, Mustafa, while serving as DGP, had apologised to constable-rank police officers. “I had suppressed the matter several times to save my family’s honour, he had even set fire to our room ,” he said.
The son was not conscious
Mustafa said that Aqeel made a video on August 27 in which he made serious allegations against the family. Later , on October 8, he released a second video and apologized. But by then it was too late. He himself could not understand which video was made when. He claimed that he used to say that the apology video was made a year ago, whereas it was only 40 days old.
Mustafa further said that some people are distorting the entire matter to damage his political image and reputation. The former DGP said that those who are doing this have no concern with Aqeel’s death , they are only interested in politics .
Broke mother ‘s back in 2008
He also revealed that Aqeel became violent with his mother in 2008 and broke her back . However , the family hid the incident, claiming that she had fallen. Once, Aqeel even tried to kill his wife, after which the police were called and he was taken to the police station. But that night , the entire family broke down in tears and called him back. Mustafa said, “Being in public life , we have to hide a lot. But now it is important to tell the truth, because some people are taking advantage of our silence.”
Drug addict for 18 years
Former DGP Mustafa said that his son had been taking drugs for the past 18 years and had become so addicted that he would lock himself in a room for two days at a time . When his family returned home on October 16, Aqeel was dead. As a result, he ordered a post-mortem examination to ensure that everyone knows the truth. He described the person who lodged the FIR, Shamsuddin, as the personal assistant (PA) of an MLA. He said that he will now face charges like a police officer. He added that an SIT has been formed to investigate the entire matter and the investigation will reveal everything.
